  3. Vow of obedience. (Always have to keep the laws of the church)

    These are the vows Monks had to make in order to live in the Monastery.  Which of them would be easy for you to keep?  Which ones would be really tough, and why?  Write about it.

You are ALWAYS welcome to make up missed points on a test.  If you got lower than a B, you SHOULD definitely redo the parts that you messed up on.
Use the beginning of class to gather together whatever you're planning on using for your essay test.

Writing a Winning Essay

Introduction:  
- Should be interesting to read.  Could be funny, tell a surprising fact, start with a quote from someone awesome, etc.
- MUST include your thesis statement.
THESIS:  Tells in not very many words what your essay is about.  Ex:  Some advantages the Europeans had over the Incas were _________, __________, and ___________.

Body Paragraphs:
- You should have 3.
- Each paragraph talks about 1 advantage.  Ex:  (Topic sentences of first paragraph) The first advantage the Europeans had was ____________. 

Conclusion:

- Restate your thesis
- Restate your interesting/funny grabber.
