Bell Ringer- Latitude and Longitude

Pull out your yellow "Latitude and Longitude" worksheet and finish it with your partner.  This is a WHISPER time.

Bell Ringer

Write 4-6 sentences about times when you would want to use the latitude/longitude grid system.  Are there jobs that would need to find coordinates on a map?  If so, what jobs, and why do they need to use coordinates?

Pick Up a Pretest

Come to the front of the room and pick up a pretest.
Write your NUMBER and hour on it.

Clear off your desk except for a pencil.

Sit quietly and wait for the bell to ring,
and then we will begin the test.

"History and You"

Pull out the white sheet I gave you yesterday, the one with "History and You" on the back.

Turn to the front side and complete the "About You" and "About the Class" sections.

What is History?

Before we can begin to study history, we need to know what history is, why we study it, and how to do so.

Instructions:
Using complete sentences, write a paragraph that answers these two questions:
       -What is history?
-Why do you think it's important to
        study?

REMEMBER, a paragraph is 4-6 good sentences.

First Self-Start

Welcome students!  This is a self-start.  Self-start means you silently read your instructions and get to work without help from the teacher.  Let's test your abilities right now!

Instructions:
- Find your seat.
- Fill out today's assignment (in green on the class calendar) in your planner.
- Pull out your goal maps and start working on them.
- Check your neighbor.  Are they doing what they're supposed to?  Maybe they need your help to get started.  Feel free to silently motion what they should do.
